The Professional Science Master’s in Biotechnology at Saint Mary’s offers students an elevated education with real-world impact. You’ll grapple with complex business and technology issues in innovative ways, learning through hands-on research that takes you from theory to practice—all shaped by actual leaders in the industry to guarantee relevance and success.

Our program is intended for both recent graduates and working professionals with weekday courses offered remotely in the evenings and a day of classes held in-person in Moraga on Saturdays, giving students the flexibility to maintain personal and professional commitments while also providing them opportunities to bond with cohort members and faculty in our impressive on-campus facilities at Saint Mary's.

Our new cohorts begin every year in Fall and applications for a 2025 start are officially open. Our Fall 2025 Priority deadline, intended for those looking to be considered for additional funding opportunities and prospective International students, is Friday, February 7th, 2025 with our General deadline falling on Friday, June 27th, 2025.

How many years for a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology?

Saint Mary's PSM in Biotechnology is a two-year program designed for working professionals culminating in a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology degree upon graduation. The courses offer flexible scheduling options and small class sizes with cohort-style learning that encourages networking and support systems. Students gain hands-on experience in our industry-standard laboratories, tailored courses on the business of biotechnology, and an internship with Bay Area industry leaders in the final semester.

With a curriculum designed for both recent graduates and working professionals already in the life sciences or looking to transition into the industry, Saint Mary's understands the importance of respecting the time of our students. As such, our program is totally hybrid with evening remote classes held during the week alongside in-person lectures and labs on Saturdays. As we begin with our third cohort of scientists, we find that this model is perfect for balancing time commitments in the Bay Area while also staying true to the close-knit, student-focused nature of Saint Mary's College.
