Competition for Collegiate Club Golf Season Starts this Weekend
Newly founded Club Sport eagerly prepares for their first competition in the National Collegiate Club Golf Association
One of the three new Club Sports at Saint Mary’s College is the Club Golf Team. Efforts led by Cohen Chin ’26, Keyaan Maqsood ’26, and Matthew Manzi ’26 have encouraged SMC Students to participate and compete for Saint Mary’s College at the National Collegiate Club Golf Association Pacific Region tournament. This Spring, students will be representing SMC in Collegiate Club Golf tournaments across the Bay Area.
In the inaugural year for the Club Golf Team, these Gaels hope to sustain the program for the coming season and represent SMC locally. Collegiate Club Golf is associated with PGA National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA), which involves more than 400 higher education institutions. The league tournaments are coed and open to all levels of play. What is unique about NCCGA is that students can participate as a team or individuals, opening up involvement to a wider array of students.
The team’s success out of the gate can be partially attributed to the sponsorship and donations they have received. Travis Mathew Brand is sponsoring golf hats and polo shirts.
On March 2 and 3, the team will compete in the Pacific Region Tournament. This is the first tournament of the three events series this spring being hosted by Lake Chabot Golf Course.
