School of Science
At our School of Science you’ll learn more than numbers, facts and equations—you’ll also learn to better understand yourself, our world and our universe. We provide state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment, interdisciplinary classes, close faculty-student interaction and a global network of researchers and scholars. The School of Science offers the degree of Bachelor of Science in seven major fields.
Facilities
The new 56,000 square foot Brousseau Hall is a research and teaching hub that features 17 cutting-edge labs, a seawater Aquarium lab, and four walk-in environmental chambers. The campus hillside observatory includes a 16” diameter research telescope, robotic mount, and real-time video feed into our astronomy labs.
Curriculum
You’ll begin with fundamental science principles and liberal arts courses, moving on to intensive lab work, collaborative research with faculty, mastery of current technology and special features like the 3+2 Engineering Program.
Research and Internships
You can spend 10 weeks in close collaboration with a faculty advisor on a self-designed research project, or join summer research programs at colleges and universities across the country. The Bay Area also has a wealth of internship opportunities at science and technology companies.
At the Saint Mary’s School of Science you’ll develop a keen eye, a quick mind, a bold imagination, and a willingness to try, fail and try again. We believe that science is a human practice, shaped by human values and human history and conducted in service to humanity.
