About
The MA in Communication at Saint Mary's is a graduate program rooted in strategic communication designed to help students strengthen the research, analytical, and interpersonal skills needed to excel in both high-demand careers and PhD programs. During their time in the MA, students complete an intensive applied research project on a topic of their choosing and also participate in an international externship.
Interested in learning more about the diverse world of communication? Looking for ways to increase your skillset and marketability with a wide-reaching, multidisciplinary degree?
Join our Virtual Meet and Greet event to learn more about SMC's Comm graduate program that accepts students from any undergraduate major. Prospective students of all grade levels and professional backgrounds are encouraged to attend as long as they show an interest in the principles, foundations, and potential of Communication.
SMC Faculty Dr. Aaron Sachowitz and Dr. Ben Compton will be on hand with our Assistant Director of Admissions, to share information about the MA, including potential career paths for Comm graduates, our Bridge Course electives, important application information, and graduate financial aid opportunities through the program.
Applications are open now and our Fall 2025 deadline is Friday, April 18th, 2025. That said, we do allow students the opportunity to begin the program in Spring by taking 1-2 of the Bridge Course electives—giving students the chance to reduce overall workload during the research project. Please reach out if interested and we'll be happy to help point you in the right direction.
