SMC Library Summer Reading Challenge 2024

by Sarah Vital | May 14, 2024

This year's summer reading challenge will be to metaphorically hit the road for an epic road trip, Lasallian style!

We’re heading east and visiting all of our fellow Lasallian universities in the US. Each page you read* this summer counts towards a mile on your cross-country journey. Some book topics will speed up your trip with "mileage" multipliers to help you reach the ultimate goal: 3,979 pages!

You don't have to be a speed reader to participate. Collect entries to a grand prize raffle along the way by reaching several milestones along the journey. And all participants are entered into our raffle for our final prizes.

Dust off your "to be read" pile, or find new titles based on your interest with the Library's subscription to NoveList Plus, a great resource to find the perfect match for your current mood. Check Library Search (the search box on the Library's homepage) to see if the SMC Library has the book for you to check out, or use our Interlibrary Loan service to request it to be delivered to campus for you free of charge. And of course, check out your local public libraries for ebooks and audiobooks.

The challenge runs from May 27 to September 4.

Open to students, staff, faculty, and alumni (if you can pick up your prize on campus).

*Audiobooks and e-books count, too!

How to participate
  1. Save a copy of the reading log
  2. Fill out your “mileage” as you go (see the "Reading Log" tab of the spreadsheet)
  3. Submit your final mileage total on the submission form by September 4
