Mike Matoso

Mike Matoso is completing his seventh year at Saint Mary’s. During his time, he has completed over 23 million in facility improvements, doubled ticket revenue, broken records every year in fundraising. and closed two of the largest gifts to Saint Mary’s Athletics. Athletics performance continues to improve performance on the fields of play with a second-place finish in this year’s WCC Commissioner's Cup and equally matched a department GPA of 3.45 with all 16 teams above 3.0.

Previous to Saint Mary's, Mike was the athletic director at Stanislaus State for six years. Before that Mike served as Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of San Diego for 13 years, was at USC for 4 years in student services and started his career as an intern at Cal Poly where he was a starting pitcher that participated in the Division II College World Series. Mike and his wife Kelly live in Moraga and have 3 kids - Abby 24 SMC alum and played volleyball for the Gaels, Cole 21 a Senior at Boise State and Brody a junior at Miramonte High School. In 2022, Mike was named one of the three Learfield I AAA National Athletic Directors of the Year.
