Drawing from the growing field of trauma research and intervention, the Trauma-Informed Treatment and Intervention Certificate program explores how trauma impacts human development, behavior, and brain functioning. Students in this certificate program will learn to work effectively with individuals and communities experiencing trauma, and learn how to build resilience and resources.

Who should apply

Open to both non-degree and degree-seeking students, the Trauma-Informed Treatment and Intervention certificate is appropriate for counselors and therapists, case managers, drug and alcohol counselors, community health workers, pastoral counselors, probation and parole officers, educators, psychologists and those in law enforcement.

Please note - States have varying rules, requirements, and regulations that govern online (distance) education offered by out-of-state postsecondary institutions. Click here to see a list of eligible states. At this time, the standalone certificate is not open to international students.

Program Duration
  • Sequence of 15 units (5 courses); designed to build skills that are applicable beyond the workplace and to help you grow and succeed
Virtual Environment
  • Online sessions held in the late afternoons and evenings. Check here to see if Saint Mary's College is authorized to enroll students in your state. At this time, the standalone certificate is not open to international students. 
Small Class Sizes
  • Cohort members in the program form a learning community
