About
Join the Museum of Art for an afternoon screening of the powerful documentary 100 Years from Mississippi. The screening will be followed by a Question & Answer with the film’s director and producer, Tarabu Betserai Kirkland.
In 100 Years from Mississippi, Tarabu Betserai Kirkland amplifies the story of his late mother, Mamie Lang Kirkland, who fled Mississippi as a child in 1908 to escape lynchings (vowing never to return) and returns to confront the painful part of her history as a 108-year-old woman.
The Q&A is followed by a 5 p.m. Dining and discussion with the director at Mission & Ministry.
This program is co-sponsored by the Center for Women & Gender Equity, CCIE Sub-committee on Gender Equity and Women’s History, Mission & Ministry, and Dean of Students.
