About

Join Densho Executive Director Naomi Kawamura to discuss the intersection of oral history, digital storytelling, and social justice. Densho is a Japanese term meaning “to pass on to the next generation.” The organization documents the testimonies of Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated during World War II before their memories are extinguished. Densho offers these irreplaceable firsthand accounts, coupled with historical images and educational resources, to explore principles of democracy and promote equal justice for all.

This event is sponsored by the Roy E. and Patricia Disney Speaker Series and the Communication Department, and is co-sponsored by the History Department, the Ethnic Studies Department, the Asian Pacific Islander Resource Group, the Asian Pacific American Student Association, and De La Salle Heritage Days.
