Professional Overview

I have always been interested in questions that don't quite fit into one academic field, but that cut across many disciplines. While I have a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature (French, German, and Classical Greek), in my recent book I also drew on philosophy, history, linguistics, political theory, literary theory, and classics. I think each discipline is impoverished if it is isolated from others.

This is why I love being in the Integral Program of Liberal Arts. Every course lets us pursue questions that transcend the boundaries of any one discipline, and to think through those questions anew in dialogue with great texts and with each other.
