Dr. Butler is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Professional Clinical Counselor, and Clinical Sexologist. She received her Doctoral Degree in Human Sexuality from The Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco, CA. She completed her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialty in Professional Clinical Counseling at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, CA. Before teaching at St. Mary’s, Dr. Butler worked as a private practice sex therapist for over six years and was a consultant to BAYWAR in Oakland, CA. Dr. Butler served as Curriculum Chair at The Women’s Therapy Center in Berkeley, CA. She is passionate about psychosexual health and mental health awareness in the African American community.
