Professional Overview

Mitchell White is a music educator and researcher passionate about advocating for quality music education at both the secondary and postsecondary levels. Currently, he directs the Sports Band at SMC, in addition to teaching private music lessons and advising aspiring music educators pursuing their teaching credentials. In previous professional roles, Mitchell was a band director serving Bay Area public schools districts, and continues to guest conduct at local community ensembles. He plans to further his research in music education advocacy and continue working in higher education after completing his Ed.D degree in Spring 2024. Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Music degree in saxophone performance from the University of Southern California (USC), a Master's degree in Music Education from Chapman University, and is currently working on his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Saint Mary's College of California.
