Stanley Koppel: Artist as Activist

A vignette of labor activism in San Francisco, this exhibition illustrates a belief that artists can contribute to creating a more just world. Stanley Koppel: Artist as Activist features a selection of prints recently acquired for the Museum of Art’s permanent collection. Koppel was a founding member of the Graphic Arts Workshop, a San Francisco artist cooperative and extension of the California Labor School. A regular illustrator and graphic artist for union-related publications, Koppel was an artist dedicated to reflecting the social issues of his time.
