Easter Blessings

by Richard Plumb, PhD, President | March 31, 2023
As many of our students prepare to depart for Easter Recess, we’re reminded that the holy season of Easter, Passover, and Ramadan offers opportunities to pause, reflect, renew our spirits, and celebrate with family, friends, and loved ones.

While we’re mindful of the life struggles that our brothers and sisters face both here and abroad, we can take comfort in the knowledge that we’re always in God’s holy presence. Part of what makes Saint Mary’s so special is that we are a family and a community brought together by our Lasallian, Catholic values, dedicated to hope, faith, and love.

Christians worldwide will soon commemorate the events leading up to the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, while our Jewish sisters and brothers honor the anniversary of the Exodus from Egyptian slavery by celebrating Passover. Our Muslim brothers and sisters fast during Ramadan to commemorate the revelation of the Quran.

The challenges currently faced by humanity are many, including illness, war, violence, economic hardship, and other struggles. Let us pray for the health and safety of everyone in our community, and for those battered by war and insecurity around the globe. We’re reminded in the Book of Job (11:18-19): “You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.”

I wish each of you, your family, and loved ones a blessed Holy Week, rejuvenating Passover and Ramadan, and peaceful and joyful Easter.

Best regards,
