With over 120 organizations in attendance and over 450 students and alumni taking part, the Fall 2022 Career, Graduate, and Law School Fair brought an unmistakable energy to Chapel Lawn.

Students and alums got a chance to visit with a wide range of institutions and potential employers in both the for-profit and nonprofit world. They also had a chance to network, learn tips for applying and interviewing, and receive free professional head shots to enhance their LinkedIn profiles.

“This fair is great because it has a lot of opportunities for all years,” said Regina Martinez ’23. “Students that are juniors, seniors and even sophomores are getting in touch with companies and can start building meaningful relationships. It’s really great seeing all these industries in one place, giving us an opportunity to connect.”

One additional highlight of the event came in the participation of Saint Mary’s alumni. The Career Center partnered with the SMC Alumni office to welcome back over 35 alumni employers.

“The positive energy was contagious, for both the representatives and students, which we believe will lead to many enhanced career opportunities,” said Victoria Crum, Employer Relations Manager and Career Counselor at Saint Mary’s. Crum and Operations Associate Anita Cardenas led the organizing effort, aided by fellow staff, campus partners, and event volunteers.

And, to top it all off, students in attendance also received a free BBQ lunch, courtesy of Good Eating Company, that drew rave reviews.

“It was great to welcome over 120 employers and graduate schools who were eager to share opportunities with our students,” said Mary Beth Stadt, Director of Professional Development and External Relations for the School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA). “The return to an in-person Career, Graduate and Law School Fair had an extra energy that filled the Chapel Lawn.”

The Career Fair is the latest successful event to support career preparation at Saint Mary’s. Earlier in the fall semester, SEBA and the SMC Accounting Association welcomed the in-person return of their annual Meet the Firms night, which brought nearly 40 firms in the accounting and finance industries, as well as public agencies, to campus. That event was also met with energy and enthusiasm, with 75 graduate and undergraduate students in attendance.
