Jock Landale is one of the best Saint Mary's Basketball big men to ever don a Gaels uniform. And he will never have his uniform number worn again. Number 34, which Landale wore while playing with SMC, will hang from the rafters of University Credit Union. The jersey retirement ceremony is set to take place on February 15 prior to the Gaels’ clash with Pepperdine.

A four year Gael, Landale played for Coach Randy Bennett's squad 2014–18. In that span, Landale helped lead the Gaels to 109 victories, an NCAA tournament berth, the program’s only 30 win season, and the program’s longest winning streak at 19 games in a row. He is one of only two Gaels to score 500-plus points in back to back seasons. He holds the program record for career field goal percentage at 62.5%. He also holds single season records for points—761—and field goals made—301—both set in his senior season in which he earned honors as WCC Player of the Year.

The two-time All-American followed up his Saint Mary's career by winning championships in the Serbian, Lithuanian, and Australian top leagues before signing with the San Antonio Spurs. Landale is now in his third NBA season, having played for the Spurs, Phoenix Suns and, currently, the Houston Rockets. In 2021, Landale helped lead the Australian Olympic team to a bronze medal at the Summer Olympics.

On top of his uniform being retired, Landale will also be enshrined into the Saint Mary's Athletics Hall of Fame this year.

Landale's uniform will hang amongst some of the greatest men's basketball players to ever play in Moraga. Number 34 will join Patty Mills' No. 13, Matthew Dellavedova's No. 4, and Tom Meschery's No. 31.
