Mercury News/EB Times Spotlights SMC Hoops Freshman Aidan Mahaney

Now one of the top freshmen in college basketball, Aidan Mahaney grew up just a few miles from University Credit Union Pavilion and the Saint Mary's campus. East Bay Times and Mercury News correspondent Jeff Faraudo, a longtime follower of Bay Area college basketball, authored a recent profile of the Moraga native who has helped propel Saint Mary's to first place in the West Coast Conference.

In the story, Faraudo details an encounter Gaels head coach Randy Bennett had with Mahaney when the now-freshman was only five or six years old. He also puts the start of Mahaney's college career into statistical perspective, both on the national landscape and in Saint Mary's history.
