Saint Mary's Announces New Full-Ride Performing Arts Scholarship for Black Students or Students of African Descent
Available every four years, this full-tuition scholarship will be presented to one incoming undergraduate student from Alameda or Contra Costa County.
Saint Mary’s is pleased to announce our newest endowed scholarship—The East Bay Performing Arts Scholarship for Black Students or Students of African descent. This is a full cost-of-attendance endowed scholarship available to one student every four years, encompassing tuition, room, and board.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Intent to major or minor in the performing arts
- Current resident of Alameda or Contra Costa County
- Identify as Black or of African descent
Who can apply for this scholarship?
African American students with financial need residing in either Alameda or Contra Costa Counties pursuing a major or minor in Performing Arts.
What are the majors that students can choose?
Performance & Theatre Studies, Design & Technical Theatre, Music, and Dance.
Is an audition required?
Yes, as a competitive scholarship, an audition and interview are required.
Do students need to apply FAFSA to be eligible?
Yes, students need to complete the FAFSA by January 1 in order to be eligible. As a need-based scholarship, students need to qualify for the Pell and Cal Grant Programs.
Is it renewable?
Yes, the scholarship is renewable for four academic years for full-time enrollment.
