Saint Mary’s Hosts Earthquakes II Match Against Austin FC II at SMC Stadium

The match on August 12 will be the first of its kind to be held on the Saint Mary's campus.

The Town FC, in collaboration with The San Jose Earthquakes, bring MLS NEXT Pro soccer to Saint Mary's College in Moraga on August 12. The Earthquakes II match against Austin FC II will be the first of its kind to be held on the Saint Mary's campus.

The game is part of an initiative to broaden and deepen the presence of soccer in the East Bay. Gates open at 3 p.m. and the game kicks off at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10, and half of the ticket revenue will go to participating East Bay youth soccer organizations. When purchasing, fans can choose which group they'd like to support from a list of 12 organizations. Tickets purchased without an organization selected will by default benefit Oakland-based Soccer Without Borders.

"The Earthquakes are excited to partner with The Town FC to bring this professional soccer match to Moraga while benefiting local youth soccer programs," said Earthquakes President Jared Shawlee. "The East Bay has a rich sports culture, and the Quakes are committed to making the beautiful game more accessible to those players and fans. We're appreciative of The Town FC and Saint Mary's for their support of the movement to cement the Bay Area as an epicenter of soccer."

Showcasing the Campus and Pro Soccer

MLS NEXT Pro is a third division U.S. men's professional soccer league associated with Major League Soccer. The Quakes II are competing in their second MLS NEXT Pro season, currently holding a 6-7-4 record while sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Saint Mary's to partner with such a high level soccer club," said Saint Mary's Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Matoso. "It will be great to showcase both the campus and quality soccer in a beautiful setting. We look forward to building the partnership in the future."

"The Town of Moraga is delighted that Saint Mary's College is playing host to men's professional soccer," said Moraga Mayor Renata Sos. "This is wonderful for the college and for the entire Moraga community. We hope that this match will be the first of many more to come."

The Town FC is a community-based professional soccer organization that launched in early 2022. The club seeks to offer programs for players of all ages and skill levels, from youth development to adult leagues and on to professional levels of play.
