SMC Library Opens Study Spaces to On-Campus Students

October 15, 2020

Open hours will be:
Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 1:00–5:00 p.m.

Reservations, face coverings, Daily Health Screening, and physical distancing will be required.

Students will now need to reserve their seat no matter where they sit. Seats are available with computers on the first floor, inside or on the balconies on the second floor, and in individual study rooms on the third floor. Two-hour reservations can be made on the library website using the Libcal reservation system already familiar to most continuing students.

A confirmation email will be sent, and upon arrival, the student will be directed to the “Ask Us” Desk to check in online. When the student has completed their time in the library, they will return to the desk to check out online.

Additionally, sanitation stations are located on every floor of the building. The stations include cleaning supplies for student use and students must clean their spaces when they begin and end their reservations.

Research assistance will continue to be available online through chat and by appointment on Zoom. The stacks will remain closed and any items needed will need to be requested in advance and retrieved by a staff member. Printing will be available for on-campus students. Pickup by appointments will remain in place for items needed by students living off-campus.

Now that the building is open, faculty and staff approved to come to campus will be able to come inside to pick up books and DVDs they have requested online in advance, without an appointment. Just wait for the email saying your item is ready for pickup. Faculty, staff, and off-campus students wishing to use no-contact curbside pickup should make an appointment through SMC Library Pickup
