Support the Library this One Day One SMC

April 19, 2023

A message from Lauren M. MacDonald, Dean of the Library and Academic Resources and Executive Director of the Museum of Art

During One Day One SMC, I invite you to invest in a resource that supports the academic success of every Saint Mary’s undergraduate and graduate student: the library.

The library engages with students in new and creative ways: collaborating on presentations, crafting with guest artists for Crafternoons, reading their writing during Pause for Poetry, meeting with librarians to discover relevant research, and expanded access to books and e-books, e-journals, databases, and streaming videos. All the library’s resources create channels for engagement, promote critical thinking, encourage curiosity, and foster learning.

Transformation of library spaces is ongoing, improving the learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. The library’s Open Access and Open Educational Resources Committee continues to lead faculty in all four schools to develop resources for our students unique to our curriculum. The College Archives is digitizing rare and special collections to increase access to our collections, including photographs from the Oakland Brickpile days and Slip Madigan era football programs.

Your gift to the SMC Library will support priority initiatives that lead to academic achievement and student success.
