Application for Leave of Absence

Per the Catalog, any student making satisfactory academic progress, or a student on academic probation, may request a leave of absence from the College, which withdraws the student from all of their courses but keeps their student status active. The student must submit this form no later than the Withdrawal deadline (the end of the eleventh week of the term) in which the leave takes effect. Students who do not return from leave within one academic year will be withdrawn from the college, have their login credentials deactivated, and will be required to apply for readmission.

The leave of absence form may be submitted for one fall or spring semester, or up to a full academic year.

*If you are a part of the Dual Degree Engineering program, this will be extended to two academic years. If the program completion will extend beyond two academic years, please resubmit an updated leave of absence form.

A leave of absence request will be accepted through the end of the 11th week of the Fall or Spring term for undergraduates. Please refer to academic calendar for exact dates. We will not accept any leave requests after week 11. As such, you will need to withdraw from the college. The date this form is submitted will be accepted as the Last Date of Attendance.

When a student goes on a leave of absence during the add/drop period (please refer to academic calendar for exact dates), all enrolled courses will be dropped from their schedule. If the application is submitted after the add/drop period, all courses will continue to be listed on the student's transcript and the designation of "W" will appear in place of a grade. A "W" grade will not affect the cumulative grade point average.
