Meet the Director of Institutional Research
Milena Angelova, Ph.D., Ed.D.
Director of Institutional Research works closely with the Vice Provost for Institutional and Educational Effectiveness to lead the college's institutional research agenda, including state and federal reporting. In this strategic leadership role, the director oversees the comprehensive management of institutional data to drive informed decision-making and enhance organizational effectiveness. They direct key research initiatives, ensure data integrity and accuracy, and provide critical insights on student outcomes, program performance, and institutional benchmarks. The director collaborates with senior leadership and key stakeholders to support accreditation processes, optimizes academic and administrative functions, and advances initiatives that align with the college’s mission and strategic objectives. They also serve as a member of the Data Governance Committee and the Academic Administrator Evaluation Committee (AAEC).
Dr. Angelova joined the Office of Institutional Research as Director in June 2024. Dr. Angelova holds a B.S. and M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with an Emphasis on Equity and Social Justice from San Francisco State University. She is an expert in educational leadership with a deep commitment to equity and social justice. Throughout her career, she has focused on addressing systemic inequities within educational institutions. With extensive experience as a Planning and Research Analyst and Director of Institutional Research in community college settings, Dr. Angelova excels in data-informed decision-making, strategic planning, and program evaluation. Her work is dedicated to leveraging research to inform policies and practices that promote diversity, inclusivity, and equity, ensuring that all students, particularly those from historically marginalized groups, have access to the quality education and support needed for success.
