SMC Login Authentication Changes

SMC Login Authentication Changes
Body

At Saint Mary's College of California, Single Sign-On (SSO) streamlines your access to multiple applications using just your SMC username and password. SSO grants you access to MySMC which connects you to essential tools like Canvas, Zoom, Gmail, and more.

New SSO Effective May 30, 2024

We're in the process of transitioning to a new SSO platform. Over the next few months (May-June 2024), we'll be migrating from our current login system, powered by OneLogin, to the new Microsoft Entra ID.  This strategic shift is aimed at enhancing security, improving user experience, and streamlining access to campus resources. As we make this transition, there are a few things to keep an eye out for to ensure a smooth process.

What is Changing?

  • Full Email Address Required for Login
The most significant change is the new login screen will now require your full Saint Mary's email address instead of just your username. For instance, instead of entering "sjy12," you'll now need to enter "sjy12@stmarys-ca.edu".
  • Gradual App Updates
Many of the apps you access through MySMC will be updated gradually over the next few months (May-June 2024), rather than all at once. This phased approach aims to minimize disruption and ensure a seamless transition for everyone.

Below are the differences between the two login screens. You may encounter both versions during the transition.

Why do I need to clear my cache?

These are meant to help you by remembering your login details and speeding up your browsing experience.
