Science Scholarships
Chemistry Scholarship
The Chemistry Department Scholarship is $5,000 annually, renewable for four years.
Eligible students must submit an essay addressing the following questions in 500 words or less:
- If you had the skills, technology, and resources to conduct any type of chemistry research, what question would you try to answer, and why? How would you go about the investigation?
Environmental Science Bachelor of Science Scholarship
The Environmental Science Bachelor of Science Scholarship is $5000 annually, renewable for four years.
Eligible students must submit a personal essay addressing the following:
- What environmental issues are most concerning to you?
- How does this environmental issue impact communities and environments?
- What scientific methods might we use to help solve these problems? Describe a scientific investigation that could help solve this problem.
- What impact do you hope to make in addressing the issue you identified above OR other environmental issues?
Submit 2 letters of recommendation addressing the applicant’s interest in science and the environment.
Br. Dominic Barry Mathematics Scholarship
The department will host the annual Brother Dominic Barry Math Problem Solving Competition for students who applied for admission to the College. The exam is designed to challenge students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills while requiring no prerequisite knowledge other than high school math courses. The two highest scorers in the competition will be awarded scholarships worth $5,000 annually, renewable for four years.
Physics Scholarship
Saint Mary's College Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for the Physics Scholarships. Two scholarships are available for each incoming class of first-year students. Each scholarship is $5,000 annually and is renewable for four years.
Eligible students must attend Scholarship Saturday on campus to participate in a laboratory activity. The lab is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their creative problem solving skills. The lab does not test specific knowledge of Physics – we seek students who are willing to think outside the box and examine problems from multiple perspectives.
Nancy Gracey Richardson K-12 Scholarship
The Nancy Gracey Richardson K-12 Scholarship will award 1 student of Sophomore or Junior standing majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Math. The student must be accepted to either a 4+1 track in Kalmanovitz School of Education (KSOE) or a graduate program in KSOE with the intention of teaching Science in K-12. The Scholarship is variable from year to year.
This award will re-open in the academic year 2027-28.
