Internal Applicants* 

*Those who earned their teaching credential at Saint Mary’s College of California

  • Complete this form.
  • Verify proficiency at the Intermediate–High Level in Spanish:
    • After you submit the admissions form, the BILA Program Director will provide a link to take the Avant Place exam, an online language placement exam. Candidates who attended Saint Mary’s for their undergraduate degree may already have Avant scores to meet this prerequisite. Students can also meet this requirement by submitting passing scores on the CSET World Language Spanish III exam.

*When beginning your application, please select the "Teacher Education" option. 

  • Application form
  • A valid preliminary or clear teaching credential (Multiple Subjects, Single Subject, or Education Specialist). Your teaching credential must include an English Learner Authorization (e.g., a 2042 credential, CLAD, or separate EL Authorization). We will verify your credential with the CTC.
  • Interview with Program Director
  • Verify proficiency at the Intermediate–High Level in Spanish:
